About Gena Kanov

Professional Training and Experience

I’m a graduate of Nova Southeastern University.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 5 years of experience working in the fields of mental health and substance abuse.

I completed my internship at Broward Girls Academy, where I stayed on to work in its residential program with delinquent teens.

From there, I moved on to the Palm Beach Youth Academy and began working with children and adolescents struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues.

In addition to this experience, I served as Clinical Supervisor at Hibiscus Children’s Center and am currently the Clinical Director at Children’s Harbor.

Specializations

I specialize in mental health counselling for children, adolescents, and families.

My work focus continues to be children, teens, and adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Therapeutic Approach

Foremost, I would describe myself as open-minded and non-judgmental, which creates a stress-free environment for my clients.

My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.

I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.

With compassion and understanding, I work with individuals to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth for which they are striving.
